Zamugo Spices

project overview

Zamugo is a family-owned business that delivers hand-picked spices from their fields in Madagascar directly to Switzerland. With the goal of increasing brand awareness and establishing trust with their customers, Zamugo was seeking new branding and packaging design that felt professional and cohesive. I worked with them to create a brand identity that evokes elegance and the warmth of the Malagasy culture.

the logo

It was important that the logo evoke elegance and the warmth of the Malagasy culture. The logo features a profile view of a woman’s face. Her smile is warm and friendly and her hair is pulled back in a traditional Malagasy hairstyle. Surrounding the woman are vanilla flowers, an important part of Madagascar's agricultural economy and cultural heritage. Since the primary logo is detailed and has multiple components, I also provided simpler variations to keep the brand flexible.

Color palette

The color palette for the spice brand is composed of warm tones that reflect the richness of the spices themselves. Within the palette, you'll find colors inspired by ginger, cloves, and a variety of pepper.

typography

The fonts selected for the brand strike a perfect balance between bold and approachable. The primary all-caps heading font makes a strong statement, creating a powerful first impression. In contrast, the secondary heading and paragraph text offer a softer, more friendly feel, ensuring readability and accessibility without compromising on style. This thoughtful combination ensures the brand communicates both confidence and warmth.
